Seeing dots
What would spring be without some polka dots? Last fall, when designers unveiled their spring collections in New York, the Marc by Marc Jacobs collection was one that boasted bold versions.
Now that the season is in full swing, you’ll find polka dots of many sizes on sundresses and sleeveless dresses — black and white is one popular combo — as well as on accessories such as bags, shoes and scarves.
Style.com celebrates dots from designers’ collections in a bevy of styles including a white and black strapless silk-blend jumpsuit (Diane von Furstenberg), dotted denim shorts (Rebecca Taylor) and ballet flats (Roger Vivier).
And, yes, there’s even a polka-dot bikini.

Fashion tip
A sash or long oblong scarf is a fresh way to update your jeans or shorts this season. And it’s worn several ways.
In its spring press kit, LOFT showed an easy-to-emulate look: a navy scarf with small white dots tied over the waistband of a pair of rolled-up boyfriend jeans and worn with a tucked-in T-shirt.
And the Lands’ End Canvas collection offers a silk sash with sailboat motif shown threaded through the belt loops of twill shorts. Its pattern adds a sporty nautical accent, especially when worn with a striped top.
